CAPS LOCK FREEZES MAC IN MACOS SIERRA

I HAVE TO WRITE IN ALL CAPS DUE TO AN ISSUE IN MAC OS SIERRA.

SINCE INSTALLING MACOS SIERRA YESTERDAY, I'VE BEEN HAVING STRANGE ISSUES REGARDING THE CAPS LOCK KEY OF MY BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD.

WHEN USING MY MAC YESTERDAY I WAS HAVING A SYSTEM-WIDE FREEZE WHEN TURNING ON CAPS LOCK. THIS INCLUDES VIDEO PLAYBACK, KEYBOARD AND MOUSE INPUT (IT WOULD CATCH UP AFTER A FEW SECONDS BUT THE LETTERS YOU TYPED MAY NOT COME OUT IN THE CORRECT ORDER, SUGGESTING IT'S NOT JUST A DISPLAY ISSUE BUT AN ACTUAL FREEZE) AND THEN THERE WOULD BE SMALLER FREEZES AND BLIPS AS LONG AS CAPS LOCK WAS ON.

TODAY, HOWEVER, I'M HAVING THE OPPOSITE OCCUR. THE FREEZES ARE OCCURRING WHILE CAPS LOCK IS OFF, WHICH IS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE INCONVENIENT AS EVERYTHING LOOKS LIKE I'M YELLING!

THERE DON'T SEEM TO BE ANY CPU SPIKES IN ACTIVITY MONITOR AND I'VE TRIED REPLACING THIS BATTERIES.

I have a caseflex bluetooth keyboard that was working just fine until I installed macOS Sierra on my macbook pro 15 inch mid 2012. Everything works perfectly fine until I press the caps lock key. Once I do that my computer will freeze entirely for a few seconds, then work normally for a few seconds and then repeat that cycle of freeze and unfreeze. When it is frozen none of the inputs work (including bluetooth keyboard, bluetooth mouse, macbook keyboard and trackpad) and the cursor occasionally shows as spinning. In between freezes everything works like normal. I haven't noticed any spikes of RAM, hard drive usage or anything out of the ordinary in the Activity Monitor. The strangest thing is that pressing the caps lock key on the bluetooth keyboard again makes everything go back to normal. Just to note, the capslock key on the macbook pro itself works fine and does not create the same freezing problem.

Relevant info:

macOS Sierra 10.12

MacBook Pro 15-inch, mid 2012

Caseflex wireless bluetooth keyboard

Bluetooth keyboard and mouse are running on a Kiniv bluetooth usb adaptor (due to lack of range in macbook's native bluetooth adaptor)
